"Major college football announcement"

It is being reported that beginning in 2009 K-State and Iowa State will begin holding their annual get-together inside the cozy confines of Arrowhead Stadium just as Mizzou and KU did last year and will do again this season.

The two teams are guaranteed to meet in KC for two seasons just as MU and KU have been. I'm not sure what this means for the future of the Border War. I believe the contract the schools have with the Chiefs ends after this season but after the success of last year's game I'd imagine there would be efforts from both sides to try to keep the game in Arrowhead each year. K-State and ISU are scheduled to meet in early October the next two seasons but both schools also have open dates around Thanksgiving each year so they might try to push for a season finale in Arrowhead.

If they elect to go ahead and play the games in October I suppose it's conceivable that Arrowhead could host two college football games in a season although doing it in a little over a month's span might be challenging for the Arrowhead grounds crew.

I find it extremely amusing that this was being hyped as a "major college football announcement." I'm sure this is guaranteed to be all over College Football Live and PTI tomorrow afternoon. The legendary 'Cats-'Clones rivalry game being played on neutral turf is certain to turn the college football world upside down. I'll credit Tigerboarder MUDude for appropriately dubbing this one the "Juco Bowl."

D-II football??

Pittsburg State (KS) plays at Arrowhead, and may pull a better crowd. I think they play NW Mizzou State.

That's right. I remember seeing that on the Chiefs website last year.

Yea, Pitt St plays NW Misery & Univ of No Opportunities (UN-Omaha)as they are all in conference together now.

That will be a power conference. ...if such a thing exists in D2 land. Meh, I will go see a few games this year.
