Get Involved

We are a Mizzou blog that is located all over the country; Omaha, Texas, Columbia, St. Louis, Kansas City, and we have readers from all over as well. Sure, we like to have a little fun here and there, but this time, I'll be serious. Many of us have been affected in some way by the flooding that has been up and down the Mississippi River. Growing up in St. Louis, I remember having to drink the crappy A-B white canned water back in '93 for the entire summer, and I thought that was bad enough, until today. If you haven't seen the destruction by the flooding in Winfield, Mo this morning, it's nasty.

Imagine, sirens going off at 5:30a telling you to get the hell out of town because your house is about to get destroyed. No time to save anything other than yourself and maybe a family member or two. You could go to another house...but they're leaving because their house is about to be demolished as well. No warning. No hope.

It's time that we get involved in some way. You can donate to the American Red Cross, St. Louis Chapter, which is the closest to Winfield. $1, $5, $10. Large donations would be great, but many small ones are awesome too. You at least have a home. These people have nothing. Here is the link to donate. If you live close to Winfield, you can donate your time, which is more valuable than any sort of cash donation. But for those of us that don't live close, please donate.

And we're closing in on two months until kickoff. I imagine it can't come soon enough for all the sandbaggers and residents affected by these floods. It's right around the corner, and stay strong.

Thanks.
