Despite it being Memorial Day and all, the NCAA Baseball seeding committee doesn't take a break. They were hard at work putting their brackets together for arguably one of the top 10 or 15 NCAA sporting events of the year: the College World Series (that is, if you ask ESPN).
I've gotten into college baseball a little more this season, so I'll be paying attention. Mizzou fans however, will be paying attention for only a few days, seeing how they got stuck in the same regional with the #1 team in the country, Miami. They are led by 1B masher Yonder Alonso and 2B Jemile "the bad" Weeks, brother of Rickie "the better?" Weeks. As a side note, I've been paying attention to Alonso (pictured) all year, and just came to find out that he is white. Add him to the Ty Wigginton's and Reggie Willits' of the world.
Mississippi and the powerhouse Bethune-Cookman are the other two teams. First game is Mizzou vs. Ole Miss on Friday (game time TBA).
(Note: Game is on da U- 11a Friday. Read on.- Big Head)
Fancy version of the ESPN bracket here.
Or more detailed, less colorful version here .
I'll be back later this week with some hard-hitting analysis, along with the beginning of the Aaron Crow watch, as some mock MLB drafts are staring to hit the internets.

Like I said over at RockMNation.com; I think the #2 seeds are better than the 1's in some of these regionals. Vandy, who's been without Pedro Alvarez for a lot of the season is a 2, Texas has been HOT and they are in Houston, Nubs have sucked hind teat and UC Irvine was my favorite CWS team last year. Mizzou has a shot. BC looked pretty good in ESPN U when I saw them earlier this season. Miami is tough though.
I'll tell you that with Missouri's pitching, they are the last team you want to see in a regional. They have pretty much two guaranteed wins. I'd think they are a better bet than Nebraska, Texas, and Texas AM to get to the world series.
I would agree, but we can't have Crow and Gibson pitch complete games for each start unless we get on the Barry Bonds program. We'll need someone to step up for that regional championship game IF we get there.
Nebraska got the all overachiever regional. Oral (hee hee...Oral) Roberts is a good program in the Summit League, but the big test could be UC Irvine, who surprised a lot of people last year in Omaha.
That being said- Nebraska wins their regional I think. Haymarket is a tough place to play.
HMW- rumor has it that a blogger of your profile will possibly be making the trip up here...according to Sir. True? I've already got the RBI Baseball on the big screen ready to roll.
i'll agree that w/ mizzou's pitching, they have a shot to move on. but blowing that oklahoma game didn't help my confidence, or only scoring 2 runs on a&m. plus they've only used gibson out of the pen the past couple weeks (keeping his innings down?).
for big head - if i can con someone else into driving out there w/ me to split gas money, i'm there. still working on it...
