Anyone Want a Trophy?

In a crazy year of college football, it's an even crazier year to predict a Heisman winner. Since most of the actual voters for the Heisman have no effing clue, I decided to get 14 of the best bloggers around...you know, ones that actually pay attention to college football. Ok, so we were probably all drunk when we piped in to watch Hawaii or the shitty late Pac-10 game on FSN, but who cares. We weren't asleep!

Giving five points for a 1st place vote on down to one point for a 5th place, here's how things worked out: (first place votes in parentheses...yes those look like these (_) numbnuts):

Darren McFadden, RB Arkansas- 57 total points (6)
Tim Tebow, QB Florida- 53pts (5)
Chase Daniel, QB Mizzou- 38pts (2)
Colt Brennan, QB Hawaii- 22pts
Dennis Dixon, QB Oregon- 12pts (1)
Sam Bradford, QB Oklahoma- 7pts
Todd Reesing, QB Kansas- 7pts
Kevin Smith, RB UCF- 6pts
Pat White, QB WVU- 6pts
Glenn Dorsey, DT LSU- 2pts

Very interesting picks. I agree that Kevin Smith should garner some votes, but is going to be overlooked by most writers. Also, you'll notice two first place votes for Chase Daniel. Neither of those were mine. I'll throw my vote out to you (in order): Tebow, McFadden, Daniel, Brennan, Reesing. If I had a 6th pick (or a tie for 5th), Kevin Smith would have been there.

Big thanks to the writers from the blogs that voted; CFB Weekly, Huskerh8er, Kansas Football-It's Business Time, Sooner Schooner, Double Extra Point, West By God Virginia, Rock M Nation, Midwest Coast Bias, and In the Bleachers.

It'll be interesting on Saturday.

Pat White gets 6 votes, yet even the WVU guy didn't vote for him. Amazing.

Charley, I wasn't going to mention you were a jerk.

Then again, Chase Daniel got 3rd on my ballot, so I'm an ass.

I'll wait for someone to question my "fanhood".

I'll admit that I was the lone voter for Dennis Dixon. Without him Oregon (as my favorite Steve Pederson would say) graviates towards mediocraty. With him, they win out and are playing in the national championship game. Without him they lose to everyone obviously. His numbers still to this date are better than Pat White and if I don't recall, doesn't the Heisman say the 'Most Outstanding Player'? He is without a doubt the best player in college football.

On a side note - does the Heisman mean anything anymore than just a side show to occupy time during the dead period. I think MLB figured that one out.

Interesting idea. Bloggers picking the Heisman winner. Congrats on an unusually good year for Mizzou football. Looked over your schedule that I wasn't familiar with.

You not only beat the Zooks, you played a tougher schedule than they did!

Joe- I agree, nobody deserves/stood-out to win the Heisman. On the flip, Darren McFadden had some subpar games as well.

Who would you vote for?
