I'm back after gaining a few pounds over Thanksgiving, but being a student, I only get that home cooking so often, so I take advantage. I didn't get to say much about the Maryland game, but we played pretty well and Maryland almost went the entire game without making a three, which may be a big concern for them this year. It was a good win, but Maryland didn't really impress me---they'll have to get it together and find someone who can shoot if they want to be dancing in March.
In case you were too hungover from the MU/KU game on Saturday, it took all of about 7 minutes for the game to get out of hand. That's one thing I really enjoy about CMA's teams here at Mizzou...we take care of business with our cupcake games and cruise to the finish line. Final score: MU 91, W. Ill 50.
The good:
Our starting five looked great. Matt Lawrence came out cold as he's been all season, but heated up near the end of the first half. Hannah and Carroll were absolutely dominant. Hannah's got it all. Three point threat, court vision, drive the lane, and a floater that Fat Bastard couldn't compete with.
Leo must have worked his ass off this summer. His new move seems to be a cross over and pull up jumper from twelve feet. He's got a great touch for a big guy and I don't mind him shooting from anywhere inside the arc. Keon did a little bit of everything last night and he is a hell of a ballplayer.
CMA has still never lost a non-conference game at Mizzou arena.
The bad:
There wasn't really much that was bad about this game for Mizzou. Western Illinois was in over their heads. They could break our press, but when they did, they slowed up and let us get back. Any team that does that against Mizzou will get owned.
When our starting five came out, I nearly fell asleep. We started getting our
asses kicked and had nothing on the offensive half. The starting five shared most of the minutes, and let's just be glad no-one got injured and start looking forward to Wednesday's matchup with Arkansas.
Congrats to the football team...beat OU boys!!!

Mike Anderson vs. the former squad. I think Mizzou has more talent right now, but should be a great battle of schemes. Like looking in a mirror.
They have the name KANSAS in their state...we can't lose!
WIU coach Derrick Thomas will be canned by the end of the year. He is TERRIBLE. Supposed to be a great coach and recruiter. He's getting good players, but can't coach for his life.
